Who we are

Hi! We are Alison & Keri, a dietitian and therapist duo.

We get it. It feels like dieting gives you all the “tools” you need to live “happy, healthy life.” In reality, these tools are weapons that end up hurting more than helping. Our goal is to help you trust yourself after tossing the dieting playbook.

Hey friends! I’m Alison (she/her), a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and yoga teacher. I own a private practice in Fernandina Beach, FL, but I practice virtually all over Florida and Georgia. I primarily care for and work with humans who are feeling a little lost, overwhelmed or confused when interacting with food and their body. Growing up, I definitely felt the pressure to maintain a thin body by restricting my food intake, exercising frequently and fixating on the scale.  I often heard friends, family and others speaking negatively about their bodies or how they ate - usually expressing a desire to change the way they looked. Most of my life, it seemed as though there was a “right” and a “wrong” way to have a body. As a former college athlete, exercising often, limiting my food and keeping a close eye on the scale all seemed and felt innocent enough, and frankly - it felt so “normal.”  Almost everyone I know was engaging in some version of this behavior. I would receive praise for my body’s size, and positive comments were made regarding my eating habits, both of which fueled the desire and drive to continue. It wasn’t until my second year of my Master’s of Nutrition degree, when I learned about some of the concepts that would change the way I viewed health, nutrition and movement forever. One of my favorite words has always been “balance” … and with balance (and a whole bunch of therapy, curiosity, self exploration) and I was able to challenge my food and body beliefs to find peace.

Some fun facts about me… I live with my husband, Viliam, who crossed a literal ocean for me (he’s originally from Slovakia, Europe).  I have an amazing memory for song lyrics… I can hear a song once and retain a good amount of the lyrics for a loooong time. I love spending time at the beach, reading and soaking up the sunshine and salt air.  My other favorite place is in the kitchen - preferably with my Mom, who taught me everything I know about cooking and baking.

Hi! My name is Keri and I’m an LCSW and therapist in private practice in Tampa, FL. As a clinician my focus in my practice is on helping folks work on their relationship with food and body - I have done all the trainings, read all the books, and know that I can help others with these challenges. But - the real reason why I am so interested in helping others recover is because of my own lived experience. I was a chronic dieter for many, many years, and know the struggle so well. I know how it feels to constantly be focused on food and body, and to be stuck in the idea that if I could *just* shrink my body down to an acceptable size, then all my problems would be solved. I tried every diet. I read every book. I followed every plan. And it did not work (hint: because diets don’t work). Even when I was able to temporarily shrink my body, I felt no better about myself. Eventually I found my way out, embraced the fact that I could trust my body when it came to food, and have gone on to live a life free from shame around eating and my body. I believe that you can get there too and want to help you do just that.

Other facts about me: I live with my spouse, 2 kiddos, and 2 dogs (who are also my children). I love to crochet (Alison and I have matching crochet sandwich coasters that I made in our offices!) and do any kind of craft that will keep my hands and mind busy. I also LOVE to cook and try out new recipes (something I used to not allow myself to do).
